Motorclassica Melbourne: Australia's Concours d'Elegance
Words & Photography: Luke Ray
Motorclassica is Australia's premiere gathering of some of the finest classic cars and motorcycles under ownership in this country. The opportunity to see such a fine mix of automotive history at one of the (if not the) finest buildings in Melbourne, the Royal Exhibition Building, makes it a must-do on the automotive calendar every year.
Open over a three day weekend, I took the early slot and slipped in on Friday morning for a few hours to take it all in. I say all, that's no entirely true as the outside club displays change each day. It woudl be impossible to try to photograph and upload photos off all the cars and bikes on display in that amount of time, but what follows is a selection of what I saw. Not the best, not the favourites, but I suppose a large handful of those that pandered to my tastes.
Motorclassica is on right now, ending Sunday afternoon (23rd October).
There's always something offbeat and different tucked away, like this Lambretta crêperie trike.
One of the celebrated marques this year is Ducati, so there was a superb line up of nearly all models...
