See This Amazing Pro Stock Challenger Up Close At Motorex

July 12, 2016

The current Fuel Magazine cover car, David and Ron Guy's steel body Pro Stock Challenger, will be be on display at Motorex in Melbourne this weekend on the Fuel Magazine stand.

From David - “The 426 cubic inch Hemi engine and clutched 727 torque flight transmission are as they were prepped by Don Carlton and his race crew. These engines put out around 980 hp at 9,400rpm and in the mid ‘70s this car held the record at 9.11 seconds at 153 mph. If you don't think that's quick for a Pro Stock elapsed time, remember that's in the ‘70s, and Pro Stock meant Pro Stock. The car as it is today has no full chassis, no gargantuan slicks and has a stock steel body that weighed in at around 3500 pounds back in the day. This Challenger is almost 500 pounds lighter than Carlton's race car and with its four link equipped tube chassis and 33'x 17' 15” Goodyear slicks, it should easily be capable of running an 8 second ET.”

This is your chance to see a remarkable piece of engineering up close, so be sure to drop in to the Superstars Pavilion at Motorex this weekend and head for the Fuel Magazine booth.
